Rainbow Brite Has Moved In At GOMA!

Magic Land Spreads Some Sparkle

The other weekend I had the opportunity to pop into the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) at South Bank. As part of their fifth birthday celebrations, GOMA has commissioned a whimsical children's installation by Perth-based artists Pip & Pop. Imagine fields of sugar flowers, candy canes, magic mushrooms and rainbows – just the kind of place where Rainbow Brite would take up residence, along with Santa's elves and the odd unicorn or two.

I took some happy snaps with my phone and well, got a bit mesmerised by all the glitter and sparkles. Who says this exhibition is for kids? This is for everyone who loves fantasy and fairy tales. There are even giant pillows draped on an artificial turf lawn where you can lie down and watch the rainbow clouds floating in the sky. Such as idyllic paradise. I bet if Rainbow Brite was real she would live here. Ops what am I saying, Rainbow Brite IS real, and she lives right here, in Magic Land!

The exhibition is currently on at GOMA until 4th March 2012. Entry is free. http://qag.qld.gov.au/exhibitions/current/we_miss_you_magic_land
